2024 Nommo Award Finalist

So I was just nominated for the Nommo award for best speculative fiction story by an African.

I was nominated in two categories, best short story and best novella. I was nominated for best short story, for Destiny Delayed, published by Asimov’s in 2022. It’s been reprinted in Science Fiction World, China, Apex Magazine, The Nebula Award Showcase anthology, and a number of other venues, and translated into Czech, Chinese, Italian, and Persian. It’s also a Nebula award finalist, and the first short story by a Black person to win the Asimov’s Magazine Reader’s award.

I was nominated for best novella, jointly with Joshua Uchenna Omenga, for our novella we co-wrote, Land of The Awaiting Birth. It’s an Alice In Wonderland esque, Afropantheology novella, that appeared in our joint collection Between Dystopias, The Road To Afropantheology, which had a Publishers Weekly starred review.

You can get the collection here, read Destiny Delayed free on Apex Magazine, and listen to a narration of it here.
