My Debut Afropantheology Novel Birth of Orisha on SFWP Award Shortlist

My forthcoming, debut Afropantheology novel Birth of Orisha made the Santa Fe Writers Project Literary award shortlist. It earlier made the longlist two weeks ago, alongside the works of two other African writers. It’s the only work by an African writer to make the shortlist.

It made the shortlist, from a total submission of 1700 and the winner will be announced in January 2026. You can see the full shortlist here. The shortlisted novel Birth of Orisha is the first book in the trilogy titled The Orisha Cycle and was acquired by Caezik SF & F, an imprint of Arc Manor.
